The Denman Classic half-round brush is designed to help you get the right finish on a one-length classic bob. It is highly versatile and will allow you to maximise volume and give a smooth, polished finish to your haircuts.

It is easy to grip and, because it has nylon bristles on rubber pads, it is anti-static. The brush comes in a number of sizes. You choose which size of brush to use depending on how long your client's hair is. The brush creates a natural, bevelled edge and, because it is slightly curved, helps the hair to turn under in a classic shape.

Remember, a one-length classic cut should always be jaw-line length. If it is any longer, you will not be able to turn the hair under. The

Denman brush is a design classic. Although it is not as popular as it used to be, it is still a good brush. It will help you to smooth the cuticle of the hair and create a natural bevel on one-length haircuts.

Preparation: Denman Classic brush

First, towel-dry the hair and apply a styling aid, if you are going to use one. Section the hair, starting at the nape of the neck. Make sure that you take small, horizontal sections. Work up from the nape to the crown. Check that each section is dry before you move on to the next one.

Using the brush

Holding the brush under the section of hair, put it up against the roots with the bristles facing towards you. Rotate the brush downwards a little and, because the Denman Classic brush is curved, it will begin to hold the hair gently. Put the hairdryer behind the brush and move the dryer and brush together downwards to the ends of the hair.

Repeat this until the section is dry, then move on to the next section, working up the head until all the hair is dry. You don't need to turn the brush to get the hair to turn under. The shape of the brush is designed to create a natural curve.
